About Green Acres
Green Acres is located in Southwestern Virginia and has been beautifying the area, providing landscaping services to residential and commercial clients since 1994.
Our services include design, consultation, and installation. As a Virginia Class A Contractor, Green Acres takes on various project types such as landscapes, hardscapes, and waterscapes.


Green Acres is owned and operated by Bill Garren, Certified Landscape Architect, who takes a hands-on approach and oversees all aspects of each project. Bill graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Western Community College, where he earned a degree in Horticulture. He currently serves on the Curriculum Advisory Committee for Horticulture Courses at Virginia Western Community College. His certifications include Virginia Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator, Certified Concrete Paver Installer, ISA Certified Arborist, and NCMA Level 1 SRW Installer. He is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture and Southwest Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association.

Most Creative Design & Display - Bronze Award
Green Acres was awarded "Most Creative Design & Display - Bronze Award" at the RRBHA Fall Home Show in Salem, Virginia, in September 2012. Below, The Fall Home Show Committee presents the award to Bill Garren, the owner. The display included a fireplace, water features, patios, and retaining walls.
Most Creative Design & Display - Silver Award
Green Acres was awarded "Most Creative Design & Display - Silver Award" at the RRBHA Fall Home Show in Salem, Virginia, September 2010. Below, Chris Wade, Chairperson, FALL Home Show Committee, presents the award to Bill Garren, the owner. The unique display included water features, patios, and retaining walls. This was complemented by an array of fall color in the landscaping. Our thanks to Springdale Water Gardens and Greenbrier Nurseries for lending us products to assist in creating this award-winning display.
Best Landscape
Green Acres was awarded "Best Landscape" at the Greater Roanoke Home & Garden Show in Roanoke, Virginia, in January 2010. This highly competitive category was sought after by many landscape professionals in Virginia. Best Outdoor Dining Spot in the Roanoke Valley
Mac & Bob's Restaurant, 316 East Main Street, Salem, VA, (540) 389-5999, www.macandbobs.com In 2006, Green Acres installed at Mac and Bob's an outdoor courtyard with a covered outdoor bar. In 2007 the Roanoke Times named Mac and Bob's as the Best Outdoor Dining Spot in the entire Roanoke Valley.
